According to the database of sales from 2016 to 2018, we found that the best performing sales manager is Emma Smith, with total sales of 211,930,232 USD, selling in the US and with the best product selling been video games, with 90,535,341usd. Is important to notice that the US also has the highest GNI per Capita in the world, so it’s a bigger market. The best-selling item is video games.

Focusing on fiscal years, we found that the best growing country was Mexico with 0.56, followed by Belgium and Brazil with 0.55. The slowest growth was in the UK. The best result in 2017Q4 was also Emma Smith, with 14,592,238 USD in sales.

The best way to measure the performance of each region is by comparing the revenue and quantity sold. Using the GNI per capita by country, we compare the wealth of the people in the market. This shows that the USA has the highest revenue, and also has the highest wealth per person. In comparison, countries like Japan, with a lower GNI than Canada, Germany, Belgium, and Australia, have better sales and revenue than the mentioned countries.

Answering the question of whether should we discontinue the book line; we analyzed the data and concluded that We should not discontinue selling books, as the dip has lowered the sales to almost half from 2016 to 2018, but the Gross Margin is still the highest of all 5 types of products. Even so, it has the only negative CARG of all types of products.

  • Books -20%

  • Computer 7%

  • Home & Kitchen 25%

  • Mobile 15%

  • Video Games 17%

The trend is the same across all regions, with Asia being the most affected, while Europe got the biggest drop, but also the biggest spikes. Latin America and Oceania have remained at similar levels, those regions have not expected as big of a dip.

Also, we consider that we don’t have the full data to answer such a question, the database still needs to ask why books have dipped. Getting data like reading index per region, new book releases by region, and the level of illiterate people by region. So, without that data, I would not recommend discontinuing the books.

Finally conclude, we recommend improving the business by focusing more resources on Australia, Belgium, and Germany, as those are the highest GNI countries that got the lowest results.
